The Spielgaben Learning Resources is a collection of six beautifully illustrated printed guides covering play, math, literacy, creativity, and nature — all built on Friedrich Fröbel's play-based learning method.

The Learning Resources are physical printed books shipped directly to your door. They are beautifully illustrated hardcopy guides — not PDFs or digital files.
The Learning Resources come loose with section tabs — without a binder — so you can fit them into any binder you prefer and hand out individual activity pages to multiple children simultaneously. This makes them especially practical for families with more than one child.

The Learning Resources bundle covers ages 3 to 12 overall, with different guides targeting different age ranges:
- Play Guide — Ages 3 to 9 (ideal starting point for younger children)
- Math Guide — Ages 7 to 12 (builds on foundational concepts)
- Workbook Year K — Kindergarten age (5–6)
- Inspiration Cards, Nature Cards, Planar Figures — All ages
Most families start with the Play Guide and naturally progress through the other guides as their child develops.
No. The Learning Resources guides are designed to be used with everyday household materials — blocks, paper, natural objects, and simple craft supplies. You do not need to purchase any specific toy or wooden set to use them.
The guides were originally developed to complement the Spielgaben wooden manipulatives set, but the activities and learning principles apply equally well with materials you already have at home.
Absolutely — they're designed specifically with busy, non-expert parents in mind. Each guide includes step-by-step instructions written for parents, not teachers. You don't need any educational background or teaching experience.
We also recommend pairing the guides with our free weekly newsletter on Substack, which delivers Fröbel-inspired lesson ideas and activity guides every Monday — completely free.
The Math Workbook Series is a set of 7 printed workbooks covering elementary school mathematics through hands-on, Fröbel-inspired activities. It covers the core maths concepts children learn in Years 1 through 6 — arithmetic, measuring, 2D and 3D figures, angles, weight, and volume.
Unlike traditional worksheets, the activities are designed to be explored physically — building understanding from the ground up rather than drilling abstract formulas.
The Math Workbook Series is designed for children aged 7 to 12 — roughly Years 1 to 6 of primary school. It works well as a standalone resource or alongside the Spielgaben Learning Resources bundle.
No — the Math Workbook Series works as a standalone resource. However, many families find that pairing it with the Learning Resources bundle creates a more complete and connected learning experience, as both are built on the same Fröbel method foundations.

Delivery times vary depending on your location. As a general guide:
- Australia — 3 to 7 business days
- United States — 7 to 14 business days
- United Kingdom — 7 to 14 business days
- Other international — 10 to 21 business days
You'll receive a tracking number by email once your order has been dispatched.
Unopened and sealed: If you change your mind before opening, you may return the product within 30 days of receipt for a full refund. The item must be returned in its original sealed condition at your cost.
Opened: As our products are printed educational materials sealed in plastic wrap, we are unable to offer refunds once the packaging has been opened. If you receive a damaged or defective item, please contact us within 7 days of receipt with a photo and we will arrange a replacement.

The original Spielgaben wooden manipulative sets are currently out of stock and we are not taking new orders for them at this time. Our current product focus is on the printed Learning Resources guides and Math Workbook Series, which bring Fröbel's method to life without requiring the wooden set.
If you already own a Spielgaben set, the Learning Resources guides are fully compatible and will significantly extend what you can do with it.
Friedrich Fröbel (1782–1852) was a German educator who invented the kindergarten. He believed that children learn best through structured, purposeful play — and that education should develop the whole child: head (intellect), heart (emotion), and hand (physical skill) simultaneously.
His method uses a carefully sequenced series of objects and activities — called Gifts and Occupations — that grow in complexity as the child develops. 180 years of developmental research has validated his core principles.
Both methods value child-led learning and hands-on materials, but there are key differences. Fröbel's method is more structured and sequential — each Gift builds deliberately on the last. Montessori gives children more freedom to choose their own activities from a prepared environment.
Fröbel also places greater emphasis on creative play, imagination, and the arts, while Montessori focuses more heavily on practical life skills and sensorial exploration. Many families find elements of both approaches valuable and complementary.
Not at all. Fröbel designed his method to be parent-led — he believed parents are a child's most important educators. Our Learning Resources guides and weekly newsletter are written specifically for parents with no formal teaching background, with clear step-by-step activity instructions you can follow immediately.
Yes. The hands-on, multi-sensory nature of Fröbel's approach makes it particularly well-suited for children who struggle with traditional classroom learning — including children with ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing differences, and high intellectual ability. The method's flexibility allows it to be adapted to each child's pace and style naturally.
