When we were born, we start to learn different things from our surroundings; and when we already came to the right age, our parents sent us to school to expand our knowledge. We use that knowledge to tackle the trials that come into our life and to achieve our goals. When we were still a kid, our parents gave us toys to make us happy. Did you know that toys have a great effect on every child’s growth? Most parents buy wooden educational toys so that even if their children spend time on playing, they are also learning at the same time.
Children can enhance their mental ability and physical ability depending on the type of toys that they play, so it is a good idea to give them a toy that can give them the most benefits. Toys like toys cars or bicycle can enhance your child’s physical ability whereas puzzle and board games are big help on enhancing your child’s mental ability. Even if your child is learning in school, he/she also needs to learn when at home.
Here are some of the things that you need to do when your child is playing:
Watch Your Child
This is the most important thing that you need to do when your children are playing. Even if you are busy on other things, you need to keep an eye on your children especially if they are playing tiny toys. There is a possibility that your children will accidentally swallow it. Basically, you need to watch your children as they play to avoid accidents. This will also let you know if your children are playing their toys properly. To be safer, avoid giving your children a toy that is pointed or a toy that is small like marbles.
Teach Your Child
Since you are watching your children as they play, it is also a good idea to teach them how to play their toys properly. There are times when children play a toy the wrong way. For example, they are playing a ball inside your house; in that case, the ball might hit appliances like television or vase in your house. You may tell them not to dribble too much or you may ask them to play outside your house. If your children have many toys, you also need to teach them how to put all their toys into the right place after playing. Even if you have savings to buy new toys, you still need to teach them how to take care of the toys. You can also search for playful learning online so that you won’t have a hard time teaching your child.
Limit the Time of Playing
There are times when children become addicted on a game that they play. The most addicting toy for kids nowadays is video games. When children are addicted on something, they sometimes lose interest on studying or coming into school. Your children might forget to eat their meal if they are too busy playing. The best thing to do in order to prevent it from happening is to limit the time of playing or make a routine like letting them play only after they finish studying and do their homework.
Choose Educational Toys
When you are buying toys for your children, make sure that you choose the one that can give knowledge to them. Avoid giving children a toy that will make them addicted to it. If your children really want a toy like video games, make sure you limit their playing time. One good example of educational toys is puzzle or board games. With those types of toys, your children will be able to enhance their mental ability; they will learn how to think strategies.
Join Your Child
Children can definitely play alone, but they will surely learn quickly if you join them. It is also a big help to strengthen bond between parent and child. If you give your child an educational toy like board games, you definitely need to join him/her. Your child won’t learn a board game if he/she is just playing on his/her own (besides, board games need two or more persons in order to be played). Because you are playing with your child, you will surely notice if your child’s skill on board games is improving.
If you are planning to give your children a toy, make sure that it won’t affect their studies. To make sure that your children’s studies won’t be affected, tell them that you will give them a toy if they get a high grade in school and let them play after they do their homework and studies.
